Renewable energy comes in peaks and dips: the wind blows and the sun shines at moments that the elements determine themselves. This does not always coincide with the demand for electricity, which is why we need to store the energy to use it in an efficient way. The batteries of electric vehicles provide the perfect solution. How this works in practice is researched, tested and applied in the Living Lab Smart Charging. The Netherlands has a significant amount of knowledge on this subject, and thus is able to contribute to an international standard.
